Mick Grace
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Mick Grace. He was a very talented artist & writer. His talents & gentle nature will be surely missed.
"Eric the Echidna Has Lost His Spikes" is a children's book that I have written as I have undergone treatment for Breast Cancer. It inspired myself to stay strong and focus on the positive things in my life. I was diagnosed in February 2008, 11years after my mother passed away from the same disease. I have had surgery, chemotherapy and herceptin as part of my treatment. I would like to thank my Family, Friends, Work Colleagues, Local Library, Doctors, Nurses and the Cancer Care support team for assisting me with my recovery.
When Mick Grace was thirteen his headmaster begged him to become a writer. After the early death of his father Mick left school at the age of fourteen. Instantly addicted to alcohol, he spent almost 30 years drifting from job to job all across the country. He worked in numerous occupations including as a builders labourer, meatworker, commercial fisherman and tradesmans assistant in the mines. Fifty years on and twenty years sober. Mick has begun to write. He not only has a passion for writing that has seen him win prizes for his poetry and short story writing. But he is a talented artist as well. His flair for drawing has seen his work in cartoons, on Television, on T-shirt art and tattooing. And now he can add published illustrator to the children's book 'Eric the Echidna.'
